Spiritual Warfare

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not harm you, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:12).
Oftentimes, before I speak, I take hours, sometimes days reminding myself who God choose me to be! The opposition and attack of the enemy can be so severe, and I take my assignment so serious, if I’m not careful I will literally slip into depression. The devil has almost succeeded on numerous occasions in convincing me, I’m a fraud! That Jesus didn’t choose me to preach, that it’s completely my imagination! Considering my past and varies other factors, it wouldn’t be a stretch. BUT GOD!!! As I read through the books I’ve published and previous sermons I’ve preached, I am reminded – the Spirit of the Lord not only choose me but will cover and speak through me.
No, I don’t use breathing patterns – no, I don’t hoop – no, I don’t run around the pulpit – no, I will not be telling anyone to high-five, slap or shake their neighbor throughout the message – no, I am not charming when I preach, and probably won’t make you laugh. Chances are the Lord is going to use me to sternly challenge our integrity, faith, humility, character, obedience or capacity to love. And, after the message you will either curse me or thank God!
Though, I am different than most – God is still God! But, I have to fight to believe Jesus because the emeny wants me to go somewhere and shut-up! The cost is expensive! For me, it means trying not to loose my mind in the mist of psychological (spiritual) warfare!
If you have similar challenges, remember and meditate on who the Lord has called you to be before the foundation of the earth and feast on His Holy Word, allowing the Spirit of God to manifest that which He has anointed you to do.

Severing Attachments

As women in ministry, especially single women, many of us are constantly searching out intimate leadership. Someone to help nourish our call, develop our gift or, a divine covenant that will help coin (create, conceive, et al.) or strengthen our assignment. However, because the Spirit and Word of God is so diluted in this culture, the Holy Spirit is saying, “My daughters must prioritize learning from Me! The need is too great!” Jesus said, this is why He is SEVERING ties of those who many of us desire to learn from. Thus saith the LORD our God, “Let go and follow Me!”

Does this mean we don’t submit to leadership in our churches? No! Does this mean we don’t submit to our pastor’s vision? No! Does this mean we don’t accept godly council, correction or wisdom? Absolutely, not! THIS MEANS we stop entertaining the idea or desire of having a “mid-wife.” This means we stop entertaining the idea or having a desire for a senior or prominent spiritual person to guide us regularly in our assignment or ministry. THIS MEANS we stay at the Master’s feet (Luke 10:38-42). This means we deepen our capacity to hear the Shepherd’s voice (John 10:27-28)! This means we return to the Overseer of our souls (1 Peter 2:25)! And, this means we pursue Jesus (Matthew 11:29)!

May we have the discipline to first seek the kingdom of God and all His righteousness! May we study to show ourselves approve, first to God!

Women as Stumbling Blocks

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING

The power of Christ has been glorified by your deliverance, resilience and fortitude! However, the exposure of that which is meant to be private taints our spiritual beauty. Provocatively exposing our shape, the temple which God has designed to be sacred, cheapens and devalues our inner beauty. The obsession with selfies uncovers the spirit of vanity and, reveals the torment of insecurity. I am praying that the daughters of Christ, we continually find affirmation, identity AND security in our Lord!

May we lead with our Christlike character, and not become a stumbling block to those around us, in Jesus name!

Reverence and Worship!

“Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying: ‘By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people I must be glorified.’  So Aaron held his peace” (Leviticus 10:1-3)

The third book of Moses called Leviticus primarily discusses priestly matters, as priest were drawn from the tribe of Levi. It would be a mistake, however, to simply consider Leviticus a collection of scripture solely regarding priesthood conduct as much of the text also explains the role of laity – in – worship. The central message of Leviticus is God’s holiness and His desire for His people to be holy (Leviticus 11:44; 19:2; 20:26).

In the text above we learn three principals for effectively serving in ministry:

First, we must honor the LORD in worship. In our text we read that Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron offered profane fire before the LORD. Meaning they treated something scared with irreverence or disrespect. What makes this story so unique is not only were both Nadab and Abihu killed by the LORD, but they were killed while serving the LORD. The Lord will not continue to use, what does not reverence His authority or respect His leadership.

Secondly, we must reverence the LORD publicly. Leviticus chapter 10 verse 3 said: By those who come near the LORD, He – must – be – regarded – as – holy; And before all the people. He – must – be – glorified.’” There is a problem when our worship is casual. Anytime we’re in the presence of God we must honor Him with praise, admiration and worship. Additionally, God commands that we glorify Him before all people.

Lastly, we must qualify our call. Notice that the bible said, Aaron, after watching his son’s death, held his peace. Anytime God has anointed you for a particular purpose, sooner or later you will find yourself in a circumstance that challenges that call rather it’s in your marriage, in ministry or with your overall integrity. As a priest, Aaron’s priority was to minister to the LORD and atone for the sins of the people, not support or overlook the sins of the people. Regardless of his circumstance, he was called to obey, respectively to God, even when faced with his own tragedy of losing his sons.

For some, God has anointed you for a particular purpose. And, like the sons of Aaron there has been a tremendous investment in preparing you. But, because of your carelessness in worship, because of your negligence in operating in ministry, God has separated some of you from such assignment. Romans 11:29 say’s “the gifts and callings of God are without repentance”, therefore, God will not change His purpose for those who show a lack of respect towards Him, God will not change our assignment because we refuse or are slow to honor Him, He will simply remove us from that which He has anointed and created us to do.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, Loving and Faithful One, give us the discipline O Lord to carry out your assignment for our lives with reverence and respect at all times. In Jesus name we pray.
